Modeling School

Connie talked about modeling school. 

I was aflame

in search of excitement. 

We both tall and slender. 

The training began to be pretenders, 

we walked the walk, practiced the turns 

‘twas difficult, there’s much to learn,

Make-up, composure, and lady-like polish

to present fashion’s designs and astonish

the audience with newfangled styles

display with charisma, try to beguile.

We had practiced for the final test

as we walked the runway, showing our best

with eyes made-up and cheeks aglow

trendy styles that hugged and showed

we strutted and turned,

proud brother cheered.

Ill-fated, a crevice, I veered 

my heel was trapped in a crack

I stumbled and tripped, no going back.

Doomed by the mishap and my allergic skin

the morning after was looking grim

with a swollen blistery face

a career as a model will not be my place.
