Who’s that lady in the mirror?
The one with locks of white hair.
Her eyes are familiar,
Her smile is quite similar,
But her face has changed; does she care?
Years have swept by her so quickly.
From time to time she has pains.
She can't be like twenty
With looks and strength plenty.
What of her true self still remains?
She usually feels she looks great
Until a photo she sees.
She looks like an apple
That no man would grapple please.
But life can always get better.
Great moments are yet to be.
An occasional glance
From gents wanting to dance,
But they are much older than she.
Losing her youth is not all bad.
She would rather laugh than cry.
There are places she goes
With good friends that she knows.
She’s not nearly ready to die.
Last week, a Eureka moment!
She lunched with many old gals.
A friend of 88
Had a a beau of age great (92)
Picked from a few," said one of her pals.
This friend’s life was far from over.
She was full of spice and fun.
Though slowed by a walker,
She was a great talker;
Her spirit could not be undone.
This aging lady knows one day
She'll leave her old bones behind,
But her spirit will rise
Through the blue of vast skies
And joyful adventures she’ll find.
She treasures life in each moment,
Savors the breeze and is free
To gaze at glistening stars
While dancing to guitars
That lady I see is just me.
